Halloween-a-thon 2010

November 20th, 2010

Over the Halloween weekend some of the artists at got together (via the intewebs!) and created Halloween themed art in a mad 48 hour frenzy of creepy goodness! Creating……..creating…!!!!!

Creepy goodness is right up my alley so I just had to create some cards to trade….which I did, and traded them for some awesome cards from some talented artists.

Here are some of the ‘Zombie Gals’ I created.

Teddy Bears ~ PurpleRealm style

October 11th, 2010

Heres some little bears that I created to take away to ArtForAll2010 to trade. Some of them traded and I have a few left.

Some 4×4 Art

October 11th, 2010

Here are two 4×4 inch artworks that I have created for some of the gals who attended AFA2010 in Rochester, NY. Theyre tip in pages for their journals. We all swapped pages with each other but there just wasnt enough time to get them all done while we were there. So Im gradually working through them.

Quick Catch Up

October 10th, 2010

Wow – 5 months have passed since I last posted! Where has this year gone!

Ive gone on my trip to the USA/Canada for ArtFest 2010 ~ Big huge thanks to my friends who put me up, entertained and drove me around while I was over that side of the world. You both rock. ((((hugs))))

I went and saw Niagara Falls – wow that was beautiful, amazing and just WOW! I wish I could have seen it at night too, seeing it and experiencing the ‘Maid of the Mist’ (and getting soaked while laughing my head off!) was truly something I wont forget as long as I live. Nature is just inspirational.

After loads of fun and relaxation with my buddies it was off to Art For All 2010 in Rochester, New York.  (BTW – Id move to Canada in a heartbeat!) Travelling over the boarder from Canada to the USA was a tad of an experience……well could have easily been the butt of a few jokes….. See we had 3 of us in the car with 3 different passports! LOL – An American, A Canadian and An Australian. LOL – yep an opening line of a joke, if Id ever heard of one.

Art For All 2010 was AWESOME! Got to meet some more of my online buddies as well as catch up with my buddies who attended the 2009 event. This year we held the event over 5 days and that was sooooo much better, but even then it went really quickly. Lots of laughs, love, art, friends, laughs, wine, art, friends and load of sillyness! All worth the crazy flights from one side of the world to the other. Ill be uploading all the pics into my flickr account soon.

As far as my health goes….I felt alot worse this trip than the last. So I guess Ive gotten a little worse. Still having monthly b12 shots and monthly tracking of my blood results. Possibly having a bone marrow biopsy soon. Still hoping for a significant diagnosis but instead I keep getting minor diagnosis of the symptoms of the major illness. Stoopid stuff like moderate chronic kidney disease…..but no idea what is causing ALL of this….ARGHHHHH….

Anyways, enough of that stuff and onto some more art! Yep…..time to post pics of some of the art Ive been up to. Which isnt much, lol.

‘LOST’ – The End

May 27th, 2010

I have no doubt hundreds of thousands world wide have blogged, twittered, discussed, phoned or emailed about the final episodes of ‘LOST’……but I just have to say my two bobs worth. LOL

After 6 years of watching this show religiously (coz I knew Id never catch up if I missed an episode) I watched the finale with great anticipation. Im not entirely sure ‘what’ I was expecting……but what we were given…..well I wasnt entirely expecting that!!!!

So on the 22nd September 2004, Oceanic 815 crashed onto our screens introducing us to a variety of characters and an island. An island, we were soon to find out, that had its own unique quirks.

Our new found friends were not alone on this island… fact we were presented with an intertwining story of creatures, from the polar bears and ‘others’ to smoke monsters and possibly ‘gods’…..HUH!!!!

Over the years we are introduced to many red herrings, theories, hidden clues, circumstance, fate and diabolical plans, and I could go through each of them giving an explanation, but in the end, none of it really mattered.

Only one thing mattered. The relationship the losties formed with each other. Their time on the Island was so significant that they each waited around in ‘pergatory’ (which we viewed as the ‘flash sideways’) for each other. While each of our losties was ‘awakened’ in pergatory we saw the final moments of life on the island.

It all ended on the 23rd May, 2010,  with Hurley taking over from Jacob as the ‘keeper’ of the Island, of Ben taking over from Richard as the second, Jack completing what he was ‘meant to do’ and passing into pergatory while watching Frank pilot flight Ajira 316 off of the island with Kate, Sawyer, Claire and Miles onboard and being kept company by a dog named Vincent.

Yep…….’worse than Yoda’ as Hurley said.

New ‘Gothic’ workshop

May 15th, 2010

Here is a new workshop I have been working on with Amerasu (Sal Scheibe) that is due to be released on Monday 17th May, 2010 (Tuesday 18th May, in Australia). It was a bit stressful trying to get it done in time but I really enjoyed putting together my parts of the workshop. So for anyone who likes a little ‘Goth’ in their Whimsy Art or just creating little refined ‘Goth girls’ and wants to know how……join in the fun!

About the Workshop: This online workshop will focus on creating mixed media gothic art in a fun way with a few creepy elements but nothing too dark! We’ll be taking a light-hearted approach to goth styled art. We’ll explore goth art, movies and comics for inspiration. We’ll cover whimsical goth art as well as more refined goth girls along with costumes and scenery. We will explore collage and mixed media techniques and then apply everything gothic into some step-by-step canvas projects.

Program Level: This workshop is for new artists as well as those with more experienced art skills who want to expand their abilities in mixed media.

What’s included: ArtTrader online workshops include access to our streaming videos and PDF workbooks. We have a forum and user galleries for all participants to interact with each other and the program instructors. Work at your own pace! Instructors are always available for one-on-one help and critique.

Ice Queen

March 16th, 2010

I havent been doing much trading of late but I have joined a ‘Framable Art Swap’ at Where I have to create three 5×7″ paintings under the theme ‘Fantasy’ specific for each member in my group.

With my new re-connection to watercolour paints I thought Id create a painting for one of the members in my group, Amerasu. I know that she collects Ice and Snow Queens. In this painting I wanted to create an interesting head piece for my Queen so I used a straw to blow around the paint to create an ice lace effect. Im pretty happy with how it turned out. Im hoping that she likes the painting.

Watercolour Mermaids

March 16th, 2010

After taking Eraserqueen’s Mermaid Workshop at I got inspired to pull out the watercolour paints and try some of her techniques and have a play with creating some mermaids.

I had a heap of fun and have found a new found love for watercolour paints. LOL – its amazing how we get stuck on one type of media for a while and then swap to another and then get stuck on that!

For so long Ive been stuck on markers and pencil combo’s……well guess its time for a change..

Altered CD Artwork
