I have no doubt hundreds of thousands world wide have blogged, twittered, discussed, phoned or emailed about the final episodes of ‘LOST’……but I just have to say my two bobs worth. LOL
After 6 years of watching this show religiously (coz I knew Id never catch up if I missed an episode) I watched the finale with great anticipation. Im not entirely sure ‘what’ I was expecting……but what we were given…..well I wasnt entirely expecting that!!!!
So on the 22nd September 2004, Oceanic 815 crashed onto our screens introducing us to a variety of characters and an island. An island, we were soon to find out, that had its own unique quirks.
Our new found friends were not alone on this island…..in fact we were presented with an intertwining story of creatures, from the polar bears and ‘others’ to smoke monsters and possibly ‘gods’…..HUH!!!!
Over the years we are introduced to many red herrings, theories, hidden clues, circumstance, fate and diabolical plans, and I could go through each of them giving an explanation, but in the end, none of it really mattered.
Only one thing mattered. The relationship the losties formed with each other. Their time on the Island was so significant that they each waited around in ‘pergatory’ (which we viewed as the ‘flash sideways’) for each other. While each of our losties was ‘awakened’ in pergatory we saw the final moments of life on the island.
It all ended on the 23rd May, 2010, with Hurley taking over from Jacob as the ‘keeper’ of the Island, of Ben taking over from Richard as the second, Jack completing what he was ‘meant to do’ and passing into pergatory while watching Frank pilot flight Ajira 316 off of the island with Kate, Sawyer, Claire and Miles onboard and being kept company by a dog named Vincent.
Yep…….’worse than Yoda’ as Hurley said.

Here is a new workshop I have been working on with Amerasu (Sal Scheibe) that is due to be released on Monday 17th May, 2010 (Tuesday 18th May, in Australia). It was a bit stressful trying to get it done in time but I really enjoyed putting together my parts of the workshop. So for anyone who likes a little ‘Goth’ in their Whimsy Art or just creating little refined ‘Goth girls’ and wants to know how……join in the fun!

About the Workshop: This online workshop will focus on creating mixed media gothic art in a fun way with a few creepy elements but nothing too dark! We’ll be taking a light-hearted approach to goth styled art. We’ll explore goth art, movies and comics for inspiration. We’ll cover whimsical goth art as well as more refined goth girls along with costumes and scenery. We will explore collage and mixed media techniques and then apply everything gothic into some step-by-step canvas projects.
Program Level: This workshop is for new artists as well as those with more experienced art skills who want to expand their abilities in mixed media.
What’s included: ArtTrader online workshops include access to our streaming videos and PDF workbooks. We have a forum and user galleries for all participants to interact with each other and the program instructors. Work at your own pace! Instructors are always available for one-on-one help and critique.

I havent been doing much trading of late but I have joined a ‘Framable Art Swap’ at Illustratedatcs.com. Where I have to create three 5×7″ paintings under the theme ‘Fantasy’ specific for each member in my group.
With my new re-connection to watercolour paints I thought Id create a painting for one of the members in my group, Amerasu. I know that she collects Ice and Snow Queens. In this painting I wanted to create an interesting head piece for my Queen so I used a straw to blow around the paint to create an ice lace effect. Im pretty happy with how it turned out. Im hoping that she likes the painting.

After taking Eraserqueen’s Mermaid Workshop at www.arttradermag.com I got inspired to pull out the watercolour paints and try some of her techniques and have a play with creating some mermaids.
I had a heap of fun and have found a new found love for watercolour paints. LOL – its amazing how we get stuck on one type of media for a while and then swap to another and then get stuck on that!
For so long Ive been stuck on markers and pencil combo’s……well guess its time for a change..

Happy New Year!
Once again Ive been missing from my blog for a while, real life is my only excuse. LOL The silly season has come and gone and the new year rolled in. I havent been creating alot of art but I did do some for my secret santa partners this year, which I will upload in a minute.
Im looking forward to this new year and getting down to more artwork. After 11 1/2 years of having my darling kiddies around me 24/7 I finally send the youngest off to school full time! Its the funny things Im looking forward to – going to the toilet without an audience, having a showing without the company, having the house stay tidy for more than a nano second……and the quiet……. Im sure that it will take me a little while to get used to all these things and catch up on sleep, but once I do I plan to create more and perhaps paint on all those canvas that I plan to put up in the house. And get my etsy shop going again. While still going through the battery of tests to find out which auto-immune disease I actually have. ARGHHH…… (going for a muscle biopsy this month YUK!)
But enough of that icky stuff and more about art! This year at www.arttradermag.com have a heap of new online workshops for those who want to learn something new – mixed media mermaids, altered dominos, goth ladies, journals……heaps and heaps! And if you missed out on the Whimsy Workshops 1 & 2, we will be running those again this year too!

Not to mention the big ART GET TOGETHER in Rochester, New York in June! A heap of members from www.atcsforall.com and www.illustratedatcs.com will be converging on the top end of New York for 4 days of creating, learning, laughing and just having a grand ole time. Im hoping to make it again this year……just got to get hold of a cheap flight from Aus to the US! (Im hoping to venture into Canada to see Niagara Falls!)
Anyways I hope everyone has a fantastic 2010! xxxxx
